IN PRECARIOUS TIMES, WE LOOK TO LEADERS TO CONVEY CERTAINTY.
A leader with a cause, and a conviction that we can achieve it, has a powerfully positive effect upon our brains. That’s good, because when we have a certainty about the future and conviction about our cause, we become more focused, more willing to collaborate, more able to learn. We become more innovative and creative, more willing to get involved and make a difference.
In a time of great uncertainty, we crave a leader who makes us feel safe, who “knows” which way we have to go.
Leaders with a cause give us a sense of certainty, because they paint a vivid picture of success for us. When leaders have a cause that inspires them, their restlessness to achieve it becomes a tangible force, and their passion is like a contagion that inspires, and liberates and aligns those around them.
